Peter Vollebregt is an extremely versatile actor who has had many years of experience playing lead roles on stage and screen.Peter was born in Dublin of Dutch parents. Since graduating from the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin Peter has performed in theatre, TV, film and radio in Ireland, the UK, Australia, Germany, and the U.S. He has appeared in most of the major theatres in Ireland playing lead roles in productions such as: 'Pygmalion' at the Gate, 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead' at the Abbey, 'Borstal Boy' and 'Torchlight and Laserbeams' at the Gaiety & Edinburgh Festival, 'Sweets Of Sin' and 'The Dracula Meditations' at the Project, 'Carousel' at the Tivoli, 'Beyond Therapy' at Andrews Lane, 'JFK A Musical Drama' at the Olympia, 'The Student Prince' at the Cork Opera House, 'Frankly My Dear' on tour, 'A Chelsea Affair' at the Mint and the Irish theatrical premier of the modern American classic 'Burn This' at Bewley's Theatre for the Dublin Theatre Festival.He received particular critical acclaim as Brendan Barragh in 'A Manual Of Trench Warfare' at the Crossroads Theatre Sydney, as Ben in 'Who's On First' at Andrews Lane Dublin, as Brad Majors in 'The Rocky Horror Show' at the Tivoli & Olympia Dublin and as The Fool in 'The Cuchulain Cycle' at the Riverside Studios London.His most recent theatre appearance was playing Juror No. 8 (the 'Fonda' role) to unanimously favourable critical response in the acclaimed record breaking production of '12 Angry Men', one of Ireland's most commercially and critically successful stage productions in recent years. Due to the phenomenal success of this production, it subsequently transferred from Andrews Lane to the Gaiety and Olympia theatres and toured nationally over a period of two years. Peter subsequently won The Irish Times Best Actor Award for this role.Apart from a huge range of Voice-Over work, Peter has worked extensively in radio drama and recently finished playing the title role in the eight part comedy series 'Councillor O'Toole' for Channel 4 digital radio Oneword. He was the resident Voice of the RTE TV quiz show 'It's Not the Answer', narrated the James Bond audio books 'Casino Royale', 'Dr. No' & 'Goldfinger' for Macmillan Publishers and has the dubious honour of recently being voted to have 'The Sexiest Accent in the British Isles'(!?) on Channel 4's 'Richard and Judy Show'.Film credits include; featured roles in 'The Disappearance of Finbar', 'A Love Divided', 'Disney's Miracle at Midnight' and the Joel Schumacher/ Jerry Bruckheimer film 'Veronica Guerin'. And lead roles in 'The Marie Curie Story' for Hallmark, the independent Irish films 'Least of All Ourselves', 'Clean Thoughts & Dirty Minds' & 'Virgin Cowboys', the award winning shorts; 'Escape' & 'Just A Little Bit Of Love', and the controversial Royal bio-pic; 'Prince William' for the Fox network.TV credits include lead roles in the sit-coms 'Upwardly Mobile' & 'Extra! Extra!' For RTE, 'Mave Binchley's Echoes' & 'Shoot To Kill' for Channel 4 and 'Ballykissangel' for the BBC. But it is probably his two years playing Andrew Taylor in the long-running Irish TV soap 'Fair City' for which he is most recognisable to Irish audiences.Peter most recently appeared with Ross Kemp in episodes of the S.A.S. action series 'Ultimate Force' for ITV, the M.I.5 action series 'Spooks' with Peter Firth for the BBC, the detective series 'Rosemary and Thyme' with Felicity Kendal for ITV and the ITV drama 'Pickles, The Dog Who Won The World Cup' with Paul Kaye and Harry Enfield.He is currently working for the BBC as the regular character Fr.
